Unveiling Success: “Youthquake 4 EU – Fighting Disinformation” Project Culminates in Impactful Policy Proposals

  • by

Overview

As the curtains close on the two-year Erasmus+ Youth Participation Activity, “Youthquake 4 EU: Fighting Disinformation,” it’s time to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve embarked on with 40 enthusiastic youngsters from eight European countries. From dynamic debates to innovative solutions, our project aimed to empower the future leaders of the European Union to combat the growing challenges of disinformation.

Project Highlights

Engaging Young Minds

Our diverse group of participants, hailing from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Latvia, Finland, Croatia, and Portugal, brought a wealth of perspectives to the table. Over the course of two years, we delved into disinformation trends and their profound impact within the European Union.

Shaping Future Leaders

Two offline activities and two online seminars provided the platform for these young minds to explore EU policy-making intricacies, preparing them to be active leaders in European decision-making processes. The pinnacle of our activities was a simulation of the European Parliament, where participants, representing each EU member state, collaborated to find innovative policy solutions to combat disinformation in various fields.

Policy Proposals: A Vision for Change

The heart of our project lies in the policy proposals crafted by our dedicated participants. These proposals are a testament to their commitment and innovative thinking. From fact-checking initiatives to legal implementations and the creation of an official EU magazine, the proposals offer comprehensive strategies to curtail the spread of false information. We have shared them with several stakeholders and policiticains and received a feedback from them, which was extremely valuable for our participants, not only from the policies quality point of view, but it was also a huge motivation for all of us to work harder and pursue our goals we aimed at during our project.

Online Final Conference: A Momentous Occasion

To mark the culmination of our project, we hosted an online final conference that brought together key stakeholders, experts, and influencers. The highlight of the event was the presence of two distinguished Members of the European Parliament (MEPs): MEP Markéta Gregorová and MEP Michaela Šojdrová. Their insights and contributions added a valuable dimension to the discussions.

Looking Ahead

As we celebrate the achievements of “Youthquake 4 EU,” we recognize that the fight against disinformation is an ongoing battle. The policy proposals generated by our young leaders serve as a foundation for future initiatives and actions. We extend our gratitude to all participants, partners, and supporters who have been part of this transformative journey.

Stay tuned for more updates on our website as we continue to champion the cause of informed and resilient democracies within the European Union.

The project has been co-funded be Erasmus+ programme of European Union.
