Since its launch in 2022, the Voices of the Next Generation project has connected hundreds of young people across Europe in a powerful series of five youth exchanges, each centered around media literacy, journalism, critical thinking, and youth participation.

Led by 6 partner organisations – Cesta Rozvoje, European Youth Press, ILÊWASI, Associazione Eufemia, Noored Ühiskonna Heaks, and AUM Association, the project created inclusive learning spaces where young participants explored various topics relevant to youth today.
Each exchange offered a unique setting — from country to country, young people explored journalism not just as a career path but as a civic tool for shaping society. Through non-formal education, peer-to-peer sessions, and practical media production, participants gained the tools and confidence to create their own narratives, ask difficult questions, and hold systems accountable.

The final youth exchange in Weimar, Germany, was a particularly powerful closing chapter. With activities hosted in a city steeped in cultural and political history, the programme addressed both the creative and critical sides of media literacy. Participants even visited the Buchenwald concentration camp. It was a profound experience that helped ground their conversations in real-world consequences of misinformation and propaganda.
Over two years, the project has not only provided a platform for learning but also for connection and action. Many participants remained active beyond their exchange — some through local initiatives, others through our newly formed Proactive Team: a group of motivated young people who will support outreach efforts through digital content and platform-specific campaigns launching this September.
As we wrap up this phase of the Voices of the Next Generation project, we’re proud of what’s been achieved — not just through workshops and events, but in the relationships, critical awareness, and ideas that continue to grow long after the exchanges end.
